• Set: 132 cards, including 12 ARs, 13 SRs, 6 SARs and 3 gold URs
• English version: the cards came to English in Destined Rivals

The chase list

1.

   SAR125/098

   Team Rocket's Mewtwo ex

The grail. Giovanni smirks in the foreground while Mewtwo towers over him against a shattered red sky. Gen 1's most iconic villain with Gen 1's most iconic legendary, and nothing else in the set comes close.

   Raw ~$340 · PSA 10 ~$575

2.

   SAR124/098

   Team Rocket's Moltres ex

Akira Egawa's Moltres sweeps over the city in a wall of flame with a Rocket executive below. A legendary bird with this much motion is always going to hit.

   Raw ~$94 · PSA 10 ~$152

3.

   SAR126/098

   Team Rocket's Nidoking ex

Giovanni's signature Pokémon smashing through rubble while the boss calls the shots from behind. Old-school Team Rocket fans love this one.

   Raw ~$78 · PSA 10 ~$130

4.

   SAR127/098

   Team Rocket's Crobat ex

Crobat leading a full swarm of Zubat and Golbat out of the dark. Moody, packed with detail, and one of the best-looking cards in the set.

   Raw ~$51 · PSA 10 ~$88

5.

   Gold UR130/098

   Team Rocket's Mewtwo ex (Gold)

The gold version: Mewtwo with its arms crossed and Giovanni's portrait etched behind it. In Japan this one actually sells for more than the Crobat SAR.

   Raw ~$46 · PSA 10 ~$89

6.

   SR114/098

Team Rocket's Mewtwo ex (Full Art)

Same Mewtwo and Giovanni composition in red and silver. The most affordable way to get the set's headliner in full art.

   Raw ~$22 · PSA 10 ~$79

7.

   SAR129/098

   Team Rocket's Giovanni

The boss himself, waving you in with Archer, Ariana, Proton and Petrel lined up behind him. The whole villain roster on one card.

   Raw ~$21 · PSA 10 ~$64

8.

   SAR128/098

   Team Rocket's Ariana

A sparkly close-up of Ariana in her white uniform. A must for trainer-card collectors.

   Raw ~$20 · PSA 10 ~$60

9.

   AR109/098

   Team Rocket's Meowth

A smug Meowth hanging out in Giovanni's office while the boss kicks back in his armchair. Easily the best AR in the set, and you pull about three ARs per box.

   Raw ~$17 · PSA 10 ~$42

10.

    Gold UR131/098

    Team Rocket's Crobat ex (Gold)

Gold-etched Crobat with Proton in the background. Rounds out the gold Rocket pair.

    Raw ~$16 · PSA 10 ~$43

What are the odds?

Japanese boxes usually give you about one SR or better. Based on Japanese community pull counts for this set, an SAR shows up in roughly 1 in 5 boxes and a gold UR in roughly 1 in 11. Any specific SAR, like the Mewtwo, is around 1 in 30 boxes. Nothing is guaranteed, which is exactly why hitting the Mewtwo feels so good.
